I will admit that I’m not big on online social networking. Maybe I’m too old or it just doesn’t seem important enough, but I don’t have a page on FaceBook or MySpace (actually I do have one on MySpace, but only for work-related testing – I have no friends there, I even deleted Tom). I don’t have any interest in Twitter, and most of the web content I read is for news/information. I signed up a few years back on Classmates, but only to try and find some old friends from high school – I don’t keep my information current. To all of this, there is one exception – LinkedIn. Anakin Gets Animated … Again
I spent the better part of 15 minutes the other day explaining to my 4-year-old daughter where the new Star Wars: The Clone Wars fits in the schema of the Star Wars Saga. It was a convoluted conversation about timelines, etc. that likely didn’t need to be had being that (a) she won’t likely remember it and (b) her only exposure to the other Star Wars stories so far has been in the form of watching me play Lego Star Wars on my PlayStation. So I was listening to the radio the other day on my commute to work and overheard an interview with Danica McKellar. She was on promoting her new math for girls book called Kiss My Math. But as expected, the conversation easily steered in the direction of the role that she is most famous for – Winnie Cooper (if you are too young to know and appreciate this, then I feel sorry for you). The Weight Is Over (sort of)
So I’ve been running/participating in a weight-loss contest for the past 10 weeks that ended yesterday. Unfortunately I ended in fifth place which has no prize attached (started the morning in third, but got knocked out by 2 surprisingly good weigh-ins after me). The good news is that I HAVE lost 15 lbs. in those 10 weeks and plan to continue the healthier habits I’ve developed as a result. It will likely be a little harder not having the contest as a motivating factor, but hopefully other factors will help support my efforts. Read more “The Weight Is Over (sort of)”
